From the Collaboration of Companies to the Interoperability of Information Systems (Concepts and Perspectives)

Abstract—Recent years, the companies need to work together to face the challenges. The international economic crisis and the opening of borders between countries require the creation of business groups in order to achieve a common goals: Increased coverage, increased performance, optimization and security, bargaining power,…etc. So, these systems need to communicate, collaborate and share content between them. Several domains know this revolution, among these learning. In our article, we will recall a set of concepts used since collaboration to interoperability. We will also analyze the different existing approaches in the literature as well as patterns of integration. Then we will make connections between the approaches and methods according to the use cases. Finally we will choose the appropriate approach for our context.

Index Terms—Alignment, federated approach, mapping, merging, unified approach, semantic interoperability.
